The registrar is charged with the responsibility of collecting patient information to complete the registration process, accurately documenting co-pays received from patients, and scheduling patient appointments. Promptly answers telephone calls and responds to voicemail messages in a professional manner per established protocols.

Job Description
◦◾Greets all patients and families entering the clinic in a sensitive and supportive manner while demonstrating the Mercy Employee Behavior Expectations.
◾Performs confidential patient/family interview to secure required demographic and insurance information. Interviews are conducted in the spirit of providing excellent customer service. Uses online tools to verify insurance eligibility.

Documents registration information with the highest level of accuracy. Secures signatures on the appropriate organizational forms and scans per established protocol.
◾Provides all documents and patient identification materials required by the service the patient is receiving.
◾Answers incoming phone calls in a timely fashion pursuant to established customer service protocols. Takes detailed messages and forwards them via MAPS to the appropriate clinical practitioner .
◾Schedules patient appointments according to established protocols.

◦Collects and accurately documents co-pays received from patients. Uses the Mercy fee schedule to collect determine and collect payment for self-pay patients. Balance and submits deposits per established protocol.
