SUMMARY
The ward clerk performs clerical duties for the Behavioral Health Department. He/she answers the phones and relays messages. He/she assembles new records and disassembles discharged patient records and checks records for completeness. He/she transcribes physician orders. He/she acts as a receptionist and directs visitors, physicians and other hospital staff. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified. Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital's compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· High School diploma or equivalent required.

· Previous secretarial experience is preferred.

· Demonstrate a full working knowledge of clerical and secretarial skills.

· Basic computer skills and ability to read and transcribe medical/technical language are required.

· Current certification in CPI and CPR are preferred but not required
